Tamra Jackson-Niems, Hope Native, and Her Husband Grow Prize-Winning Pumpkin

1992 Hope High graduate Tamra Jackson-Niems and her husband Larry took second place this weekend at the Southeast South Dakota Giant Pumpkin Growers weigh-off with a 822 pound specimen.  The Niems have been growing giant pumpkins for several years and had previously won honors with an 807 pound pumpkin.
   Tamra Jackson-Niems is a Professor of Plant Pathology with the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.  She worked at the Southwest Research and Extension Center during her college years.  Her husband Larry is a corn and soybean farmer.  You can follow the Niems’ efforts on facebook at Cra Z Pumpkins.
