PRESCOTT – To paraphrase a line from Robert Earl Keane, “The lines go on forever and the need it never ends.”

This is how it’s been in 2020 since the pandemic  hit. Everyone has been affected, some more than others. Locally, the needs are the same as they are anywhere else – people need food, clothing and shelter. The Central Arkansas Development Council has been working to help with some of those needs, primarily food and shelter. Thursday morning volunteers worked with the CADC to hand out 350 boxes of food. Receiving the food was income-based, and no one who showed up had a problem meeting the income guidelines.

The line stretched from the Potlatch Building inside the Nevada County Fairgrounds back to nearly the Depot Museum, with people pulled over onto the shoulder of the road on Hwy. 67 so as not to block traffic. Volunteers worked as quickly as they could to get people in and out. The food boxes contained: cereal, macaroni, cranberry sauce, yams, pinto beans, dry milk, sugar, corn, green beans, flour, corn meal, roll mix, brownie mix, potato pearls, 10 pounds of chicken and two packages of bologna.

The CADC also has funds available to help with rent and utilities for those who qualify.
