Prescott/Nevada County Chamber of Commerce Banquet

The Prescott/Nevada County Chamber of Commerce held their annual banquet Tuesday at the Barn at Willow Oak Acres.  The beautiful new facility was a perfect fit for Nevada County’s biggest night of community honors.

The event was emceed by Lynn Vanderveer whose quick wit was a hit in every situation.  The welcome and introduction of the Chamber board was from Director Jamie Hillery.  Vanderveer presided over the annual gun raffle and State Senator Bruce Maloch did his usual great job conducting the live auction.

A Chamber banquet is about honoring those in the community and the awards started with recognition of the Mike and Tammie Cottingham family, the Nevada County Farm Family of the Year.  The Business Leadership award went to the Bank of Delight.

Educators and Students were named from both Nevada and Prescott.  The Nevada Educator couldn’t be there and it was asked that person’s name be held back.  The Nevada Student of the Year was Bryson Rhodes.  The Prescott Educator was Tony Spearman and the Prescott Student of the Year was Tyler Doucet.

The Prescott Rotary Club was named the Organization of the Year.  Pat Grimes was named Treasure of Gold.  Colby Tillman was named the Hometown Hero.  Gloria Majors was named the Citizen of the Year but couldn’t be on hand for the banquet.

The banquet allowed the public to meet District 12 State Senator-Elect Charles Beckham who visited with District 3 State Representative Danny Watson.
