Emmet Christmas parade still on

EMMET – With the virus still creating many holiday gatherings not possible, we are still wishing everyone’s safety, however, Emmet will continue with its Christmas parade only. We have many express our towns parade especially needed to uplift some spirits as it has all these years. Whether you stand on street or your porches, participate in riding in parade, stay in vehicles with flashing lights and horns . Emmet’s gift to the public … the 27th Annual Christmas Parade on Dec. 12.
Emmet’s Annual 27th Christmas Parade will still remain its annual event, sponsored by EVA-Emmet Vision Association. Jewel Allen and Anita Wicker Harp along with Mayor Dale Booker and members are overly concerned about the health and welfare of the community as plans are trying to be as safe as possible for everyone. Of course, everyone is advised that warring a mask are always required and distance not just for yourself but as well as others due to people being asymptomatic. Santa will be riding in parade, but this year Santa will not be visiting taking children pictures and Christmas list wishes, Santa is asking parents to help him this year with their request as possible.
First:
 Parade route will be the same with one change. (INSTEAD OF COMING TO 299 HWY AND TURNING LEFT AT FIRE DEPARTMENT- ROUTE WILL CONTINUE STRAIGHT BACK TO OLD SCHOOL PARKING LOT AND END THERE WHERE IT STARTED.  No meeting at the chuck wagon this year at all.
 People on any floats and vehicles are encouraged to ware mask as well and know or be a family member knowing who they are familiar with. Everyone will have temperature check before riding in route. 5–5:30 pm at old school parking lot for clearance to continue, all for everyone’s safety. Participating people, names will be taken for media, see Anita at table that will be setup at school. You can also help by making a name list of all riding with you.
Second:
There will be no Refreshments this year due to COVID19.  Our annual parade certificates will be awarded at beginning of parade.
