The Hope Lions Club hosted their 71st annual Christmas auction this past Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at the Fair Park Coliseum. The club had to file a plan with the Arkansas Department of Health in order to stage the annual event. Lion Charles Looney presented the report to the Hope City Board and also coordinated efforts with Lion Josie Carlton make sure the Coliseum did not exceed the occupancy limit.
The auction raised $33,378, just a little less than last year’s auction. The membership was surprised at how well the auction did during this complicated year of COVID-19. Lions President Mark Ross said the club greatly appreciates the continued success of this year’s auction. He noted at the Monday Lions meeting that the club is grateful for the support of the bidders and the local merchants.
