HOPE – 2020 has been a rough year for the Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office Operation Christmas program, according to Sheriff James Singleton. ” We haven’t been able to have our fundraisers and I just didn’t feel right asking people to donate because of the pandemic. We had to cancel our Shop with a Deputy program due to health concerns related to COVID. Through the shop with a deputy program last year, we were able to bring joy to approximately 200 Hempstead County children in 2019. I am very saddened that we can’t serve that many kids this year.”

“We have identified approximately 30 kids that we will be able to help have a better Christmas, I would like to thank Diamond Bank and Walmart for their thoughtfulness and contributions to help with this year’s Operation Christmas for our kids in Hempstead County,” the sheriff added.

Singleton also had another request, “Please remember and pray for the families who have suffered during this pandemic. Please pray for our Deputies, Police Officers Nurses, EMS, Fire and Rescue, our soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen who put their lives on the line each and every day to allow us to live in the Land of the Free. And thanks again Diamond Bank and Walmart. May GOD Bless and Keep our citizens safe through the holidays. A little prayer works every time, Thank You Lord.” Unquote.
