Blevins School Board

-
The Blevins School Board met Monday evening at 6:30pm in the Blevins School Cafeteria. The meeting started with prayer, the pledge, and the approval of the last meeting’s minutes.
Though brief, the meeting addressed a number of topics, including a district-wide bonus. This financial bonus is intended for all employees, in gratitude for their additional efforts in dealing with the pandemic. While discussing the bonus, Superintendent Stephanie Dixon expressed gratitude to all full-time employees, stating that they all have been working very hard to make the school as clean and safe as possible. In light of this, Dixon asked that all full-time employees receive the same amount. Currently, the plan is to grant all full-time employees a $500 bonus, and all part-time employees a $250 bonus. It is expected that the school will be able to use some of their ESA funds to pay for a portion of this.
The school board also discussed this upcoming spring’s graduation date. There was some concern expressed towards selecting an outside venue, as the location’s availability may change over time. To remedy this, the school board resolved to hold graduation in the school’s gymnasium, like last year. This way, the families already know what to expect, and there will be no need to alter the graduation date at the last minute. This being decided, the school board set graduation for May 14th.
Other matters discussed include the dissolution of Blended Learning Fridays heading into the spring semester, the transfer of a Junior High basketball player to the Senior High team, and updates to the school district’s Ready For Learning plan (which will be published on the school’s website).
The meeting’s minutes can be found on the Blevins School District’s web page.
