Three Law Enforcement Units Damaged in 2-County Pursuit

NASHVILLE – A Sunday evening chase that started in Nashville made its way through Mineral Springs, Tollette and Saratoga before ending near Columbus.

Around 6:00 pm,  Nashville city officers tried to stop a vehicle for reckless driving in Nashville. The Chevrolet Silverado would not stop and a pursuit started.  Nashville received  assistance from Howard County Sheriff’s deputies, the Mineral Springs Police Department, and Hempstead County deputies.  The pursuit went through Howard County into Hempstead County and back into Howard County and  ended at Silver Road and Highway 73 near Columbus when the driver of the Silverado saw the Hempstead County Sheriff’s vehicles, slammed on his brakes and backed into two Nashville city officers and a Howard County county officer. The Mineral Springs officer then stopped the vehicle and the suspect was apprehended.

The suspect, Colby Teryl Bates, age 31, of De Queen was arrested.  He was transported to the Howard County Jail in Nashville, where he is being held for 3 counts of Aggravated Assault, Criminal Mischief, Fleeing, and DWI-drugs.  Bates also had an outstanding felony parole warrant and some outstanding misdemeanor warrants.
