Jonquil Festival Cancelled For 2021

By Staff, 01/12/21 4:37 PM

Officials at Historic Washington State Park have verified this year’s Jonquil Festival has been cancelled due to COVID-19.  This makes the second year in a row the festival has been a victim of the pandemic.  The organizers are hoping to bring the festival back in 2022.

The Jonquil Festival dates back to 1968, prior to Washington becoming a state park.  Since the 1970’s, the annual event has drawn thousands of visitors to what is Southwest Arkansas’s premier “first festival of Spring”.

Despite the festival being cancelled, the park remains open on a daily basis. While the only buildings open are the Williams Tavern Restaurant and the 1874 Courthouse, those visiting can enjoy strolling through the 19th century village and seeing the period buildings.  For information visit historicwashingtonstatepark.com.
