Nominations sought for Citizen, Hero

PRESCOTT – While no date has been set for the 2021 Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce, nominations are being sought for Citizen of the Year and Hometown Hero.

Jamie Hillery, executive director of the Chamber, said she’ll have to get a committee together and see when and how a banquet could be held as the pandemic continues. However, she added, regardless of the committee’s decision, the winners of Hometown Hero, Citizen of the Year and Treasure of Gold will still be honored.

Any resident of Nevada County can submit a nomination for Citizen of the Year or Hometown Hero. For the Citizen of the Year, the nominee must be a resident of the county or have a business located in the county. To nominate someone for Hometown Hero, the nominee must have represented the nation in a division of the military or currently be a member of the fire, police of Nevada County Rescue Unit.

All nominations must be submitted in writing with the reason for the nominations included. All nominations will go before a selection committee and be judged on the following criteria:

For Citizen of the Year – Service to family, city, county, state, church, fraternal, recreational, industrial or educational oriented services.

For Hometown Hero – Service to family, city, state, church, fraternal, industrial or educational services.

The deadline to submit nominations for either or both is March 1, 2021.
