HOPE – The Hope-Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce launched two campaigns today (2/3) that will run through the month of February.

Building on last year’s “Wrap it in Red” Campaign, the chamber is asking that everyone take time to “Refresh the Red” throughout the community.

In March of 2020, red ribbons were put in place on businesses, business signs and homes. The plan for the first campaign was to leave the ribbons in place until the community could come together and “collectively” cut the red ribbons. The date for the cutting of the ribbons is still yet to be determined (due to COVID), so now is the time to “Refresh the Red.”

The second campaign also has a local focus. “Love Letters to Locals” will allow the community to show additional support and appreciation for all local businesses. The Chamber has placed a “mailbox” outside the chamber office at 201 South Main. For those who want to participate in the campaign, simply write a letter or note to local businesses and thank them for all they have done during this season of COVID.

Beckie Moore, chamber director, stated, “Since the impact of COVID continues to harm local businesses as well as our entire community, the “Love Letter to Locals” will provide a huge boost to our business community. Uplifting words of support and appreciation are much-needed at this point in time. Our small businesses make a profound, local impact, so this campaign will draw attention to that fact.”

“”Love Letters to Locals” will close on Sunday, February 28th. At that time, the letters will be placed on the chamber windows for all to view. The chamber will also create a “Love Letters to Locals” Video to share on Facebook.
