Mrs. Sammie Lou McClure, 78, of Gurdon passed away Thursday, February 4, 2021 in Gurdon. She was born September 15, 1942 in Heber Springs, Arkansas to Ireland and Ruth Garrett Spradlin.

Mrs. Sammie was a homemaker and a member of Beech Street Baptist Church. Sammie loved her family and church where she served in many roles in women’s and children’s ministries over the years and touched many lives. She enjoyed animals, traveling, local history, backroad car rides, and picnics with her family. Sammie was also fluent in sign language that she learned to communicate with her brother who was deaf.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jasper Spradlin.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, John McClure; her son, David McClure; her daughter, Susan Hurst of Gurdon; one granddaughter, Jenna Hurst McCorkel (Spencer) of Montana; one great grandchild, Karis McCorkel of Montana; several nieces and nephews along with her church family.

Funeral service will be 2:00pm Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Beech Street Baptist Church in Gurdon. Visitation will be held there from 1:00-2:00pm. The family request social distancing rules be observed and masks to be worn for the protection of all.
