UA Hope-Texarkana Mourns the Loss of Founding Director

Mr. J.W. Rowe, the founding director of the college, has passed away at 94. Rowe served as the Director of Red River Vo-Tech (now UAHT) from 1965 until 1987. After leaving the college, Mr. Rowe continued to help students by funding endowed scholarships through the UAHT Foundation.

“We are saddened to hear of the passing of our founding director and friend, Mr. J. W. Rowe,” Laura Clark, Interim Chancellor, said. “Mr. Rowe served and led this institution faithfully for many years and was truly dedicated to students. He continued his good work even after retirement through the establishment of several scholarships. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.”
