The worst snow storm in 20 years has resulted in impassable secondary roads and a coating of 8 to 9 inches. Many businesses in Hope were closed and many businesses could not be reached due to high drifts. As of 10:45am Monday, we had no reports of damage in Hempstead County although that is subject to change with the heavy snow load. A report from Saratoga stated a chicken house and barn with cattle had collapsed from the load in Howard County. We hope to bring more updates later today. A second round of frozen precipitation is scheduled to start Tuesday night for the area.
We checked in with Brent Pinkerton of B-99.5/KNAS 105.5 in Nashville as the radio station is the official weather station for Nashville. He reports 7.5 inches of snow there.
