February Brought Historic Low Temperatures To Hope

The Southwest Research and Extension Center is the official weather reporting station from Hope and the facility has reported historic low temperatures during the recent snow storms.  The lowest temperature for a 24 hour period was 7 degrees below zero on February 6th.  The next day the official 24 hour low was 6 below.  The readings are generally read around 7am each day.  In addition to the below 0 temperatures, the station report 8 degrees on both February 19th and 20th.  In addition, two days showed lows of 12 degrees and one day with a low of 16 degrees.  The high temperature for February was 72 degrees recorded on February 24th.

The SWREC reported 19 inches of snow during the period February 15th and 18th.  It reported new snow each day and also the total amount each day.  The largest daily total was 18 inches and snow totals were record for 8 consecutive days.

Precipitation for the month and year is above normal.  The average precipitation for February is 4.51 inches and total precipitation was 5.75 inches for February.  The year to date total is 12,83 inches and normal for the first two months is 8.66 inches.
