Monty Sullivan

Jerry Montague (Monty) Sullivan, age 50, of Hope, Arkansas, passed away Friday, March 5, 2021, in Little Rock, Arkansas. Gone too soon, his life and legacy will be cherished and celebrated by all who knew and loved him.
Monty was born on November 24, 1970, to Jerry and Mary Sullivan in Texarkana, Arkansas. He graduated from Arkansas High School in 1989. He was born with a servant’s heart. With an eagerness to help and love for people, he began working at Wadley Hospital while still in high school. He continued serving others with careers as a Paramedic, Fireman and Police Officer. He was later employed by Cooper Tire in Texarkana, Arkansas, for many years as a Supervisor.
Monty was a devout Christian and faithful servant to all who knew him. He bestowed joy upon everyone he met and will forever be remembered by his larger-than-life personality and infectious smile. Monty was a member and Deacon of First Baptist Church, where he loved being a part of the Praise and Worship Team. He also enjoyed worship and fellowship at Garrett Memorial Baptist Church.
On July 19, 1997, Monty married Christi, the love of his life. They made their home in Hope, Arkansas, with their two daughters, Raley and Cally. Monty’s girls inherited his love of sports, and watching them was a favorite activity for Monty and Christi. Most weekends, Monty could be seen and heard coaching or cheering on players from all over and making memories with the people he loved. He also enjoyed hunting, golfing, running and singing.
Monty was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents, Leo and Hattie Sullivan and Jimmy and Bella May Holder. He is survived by his wife, Christi Sullivan; their two daughters, Raley and Cally; his mother, Mary Sullivan of Texarkana, Arkansas; two brothers, Jessie Davis (Peggy) of Genoa, Arkansas, and Jeff Davis (Zena) of Texarkana, Arkansas; a sister, Candy Drewery (Kevin) of Texarkana, Arkansas; Mother-in-Law, Joby Wren; and a host of nieces and nephews and other special family members. He is also survived by the loving communities of friends he made and treasured throughout his life.

Visitation will take place at First Baptist Church in Hope on Wednesday, March 9, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. with funeral services immediately following at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens in Texarkana, Arkansas.
