Ware Selected for Governor’s School

HOPE – Hope High School junior Richard Ware has been selected to participate in the Arkansas Governor’s School in July at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville.

Ware was selected to participate in the “instrumental music” component of Governor’s School. Ware is a junior student at Hope High School and a sophomore in the Hope Collegiate Academy at the University of Arkansas-Hope. He is the son of Adrienne Ware and Eric Ware and he is an active, award-winning member of the HHS Band, having been seated in the 2019-2020 Arkansas School Band and Orchestra Association Region 2 Jazz Band. He is also a member of the HHS golf team and Bobcat baseball team.

Ware served as a panelist in February for the Hope Public Schools Black History Month video discussion “Perspectives on a Sound: Black Music in Hope and Southwest Arkansas.”

Arkansas Governor’s School is a four-week summer residential study program for rising senior students which is legislatively  funded through the Arkansas Department of Education. The program is conducted on the campus of Arkansas Tech University in Russellville and is set for July 5th-August 1st.

The program is a non-credit but is designed as a unique experience for select Arkansas student leaders. The total immersion setting aids academic seriousness and development of a student’s interests with guest speakers, a film series of intellectual significance and student performances/presentations.

Students must be Arkansas residents with junior class status who have demonstrated creativity in academic or creative fields, are above average in their nominated discipline, are a highly self-motivated, and demonstrate an intellectual, social and emotional maturity that responds to theoretical and process-related learning.
