Alyne Roberts

Alyne McLelland Roberts passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family on Sunday, March 28, 2021. She was 90 years old. She was born to Ben and Ethel Williams on January 4, 1931 in Gurdon, Arkansas. She devoted 30 years of her life to public service and retired as Hempstead County Tax Assessor in 1996. She later served on the Quorum Court. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hope, where she served on numerous committees. She loved to spend time working in her yard and spending time with her family.

Alyne was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Tillman McLelland and Herbert “Bob” Roberts, one daughter Martha Plumlee, two sisters Dee Turnage McMurrough and Virginia Scott and six brothers JT Williams, Archie Williams, Horace Williams, Grady Williams, Harvey Williams and Henry Williams.

She is survived by her son Roger McLelland and daughter Robin Townsend (Ron). Seven grandchildren, Teena Elrod (Max), Rod McLelland (Denyse), Eric Plumlee (Jennifer), Monica Morris (Chad), Mandy Townsend, Casey Schoenberger (Patrick), Kara Choate (Justin). Eleven great grandchildren Hunter Elrod, Ashtyn McLelland, Mackenzie Lafferty, Parker Freeman, Linsey Choate, Brooks Plumlee, Collin Morris, Camden Green, Ella Lafferty, Sadie Choate and Emersyn Schoenberger. Brother-in-law John McLelland (Karen) and sister-in-law Barbara Williams.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to caregivers: Charlotte Bobo, Tanya Collins, Joan Columns, Joan “Cricket” Columns, Wendy Waller Cox, Melissa Morton, Shelonda Stephens, Dierksen Hospice and special nurse, Kandace Davidson.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 31, 2021 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at Brazzel-Oakcrest Funeral Home with a service at 10:00. A graveside service will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery with Bro.
