Hope Civitan Club Holds Chamber Business After Hours

Members of the Hope Civitan Club stand ready to hand out bags of pre-wrapped treats as they hosted a Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours at the Hub in downtown Hope Tuesday, April 13, from 4:30 to 6 p.m..  The drive-by event was the club’s annual celebration of April as Civitan Awareness Month.  Civitan International is a service organization whose motto is “Builders of Good Citizenship.”  The Hope Club, which chartered in December 2009 and is now 11 years old, completes a number of community projects each year, including sponsorship of the Watermelon Festival Car Show.  Civitan International has a special focus on individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities and the local club also supports the Civitan International Research Center in Birmingham, Alabama, where research is conducted into the causes of disabilities.  Civitans pictured are (from left) Andrea Martin, Jeramy Fielding, Patti Manus, Debbie Hall, Aaron Black, Mona Still, Twyla Pruden, Jerry Pruden, Linda Blackmon, Beckie Moore and club President Eva Morehead.  Not pictured is President-Elect Amber Mackey, who took the picture.
