Arkansas weather topic of HCHS meeting

WASHINGTON – People always say crazy changes in the weather is just “Arkansas” weather. Is this true? Hempstead County had it own local meteorologist that documented the weather from 1840-1859  for the Smithsonian Institution.

Come learn about Dr. Nathan Smith and his weather log at the Hempstead County Historical Society on Tuesday evening April 27, 2021 at the Presbyterian Church in Washington, Arkansas at 7pm. Everyone is welcome. The guest speaker for the evening will be local historian, Josh Williams. Williams will have the original weather log on display during the meeting.

The Historical Society seeks to bring awareness to the rich heritage and history of Hempstead County. Come and share your history with us.
