Flags presented for late NCRU members at appreciation dinner

PRESCOTT – For the first time in two years, the Prescott Lions Club was able to host its appreciation dinner for first responders.

This occurred Thursday at the Stokes Center at Central Baptist Church. Roughly 50 people showed up for the event, which was highlighted by Lion President Penny Lynch presenting two flags in memory of members of the Nevada County Rescue Unit who have died. The flags were presented in memory of William Mullins and Robert Missey.

Those in attendance enjoyed the catfish dinner, which included, potato salad, fries, hush puppies, and hamburgers. More than 80 pounds of fish were cooked, along with more than 30 pounds of fries.

What might have been more important, though, was it provided those who came the chance to be out and about in a pre-COVID normal fashion. The first responders and their families mingled with others, chatted and swapped COVID stories, or just have fun being together.
