Jarnunie Johnny Lee Mitchell, 58, of Hope, Arkansas, passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021. He was born in Washington, Arkansas, on September 5, 1962, to loving parents Clyde Mitchell, Sr. and Shirley English Mitchell.

Johnny and his family moved to Piqua, Ohio when he was a tender age. After the passing of his father, his mother moved he and his siblings to Hope. Johnny was still a young boy. In 1983 he graduated from Hope High School. He spent some time serving his country in the National Guard. After returning to Hope, he would remain here until his passing.

Johnny was a hard worker and a “Jack of many trades” and has worked several different jobs throughout the course of his life. He loved his family. He was very compassionate and sincere. He liked to talk, joke around, was very outspoken at times, but if you were not a friend, or he didn’t know you, you’d think he was shy. Johnny found his love for Christ again when he joined Life House Church in Hope.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Mitchell, Sr. Shirley Ann Mitchell-Whitaker and siblings, James Holston, Clyde Mitchell, Jr., and Shelia Lynn Mitchell. He will be loved and missed by his brothers: Sonny Boy Mitchell (Leulla) of Hope, David Mitchell of Longview, Texas; sisters: Charlene Manning of Saratoga, Arkansas, Shirleen Jackson (Stanley) of Camden, Arkansas, Alma Langston of Grand Prairie, Texas, Donna Lewis and Carolyn M. Porter both of Hope; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held at Brandon’s Mortuary in Hope on Thursday, April 29, 2021, from 4:00-6:00pm. There will be Celebration of Life Service at 2:00pm, Friday, April 30, 2021, at Brandon’s Mortuary. Johnny’s online guestbook is available at www.brandonsmortuary.com.
