Bishop killed in accident

ROSSTON – Rev. Jerry Bishop was killed while crossing Hwy. 200 shortly after 7 p.km. Thursday.

According to a report from the Arkansas State Police, Bishop, 69, was struck by a 2011 Camry as he was crossing the highway. The Camry was heading west on Hwy. 200 at the time.

Bishop was pronounced dead at the scene by Nevada County Coroner David Gummeson and his body taken to Brazzel Funeral Home.

Bishop had been a member of the Nevada School Board for 20 years, earning platinum certification, the highest award for a school board member. Rick McAfee, superintendent of the Nevada School District, said Bishop will be remembered at the Nevada graduation on May 13.
