PRESCOTT – There was good news for the Prescott School Board in its May meeting Monday night – 16 students have requested transferring into the district for the 2021-22 school year.

In addition, the board was informed Caytlee Poole, and eighth grader at Prescott Junior High School, won the national DAR essay contest. Superintendent Robert Poole said he believes this is the first time a student from Prescott has won the national title. The district will recognize Poole’s accomplishments before the end of the year.

The panel approved two purchase orders. One was for a learning loss program for students in K-5 to help them catch up in math. The cost of this program was $22,610.56 and will be paid using ESSER funds. The other purchase was for 312 Chromebooks and licenses to be used in testing at all levels. Poole said the old Chromebooks will be recycled out with the new ones primarily used for testing. The cost of these computers is $95,059.15, and will also be paid with ESSER funds.

In other business, the board approved pay hikes for classified and certified personnel. The issue was discussed at the April meeting and referred back to the personnel policy committee for approval, before being brought before the board for final approval.
