By Hope Water & Light, 05/7/21 8:34 PM

In order to be in compliance with the U.S. Safe Drinking Water Act, major improvements were made to the Water Treatment Plant that was originally built in 1982. The project began in June 2018 and was completed in December 2020. It included 2 new 750,000 gallon clearwells that have mixing, aeration, and ventilation; in addition a new pump station was built with all new pumps. The 1st clearwell and pump station was placed in service on January 3, 2020 and the 2nd clearwell was placed in service on December 10, 2020. The total cost of the project was about $12,735,000.

HWL always takes the steps necessary to provide safe drinking water to our customers. It is important to us that we comply with the requirements of the Safe Drinking Water Act and the Arkansas Department of Health. HWL customers will reap the benefits of this project with safe drinking water that is mixed and aerated with ventilation. The Water Treatment Plant will continue to provide 6.0 mgd of drinking water for our customers and future economic development.
