PRESCOTT – Cummings Stadium was filled, on the home side, Friday night, but not for a football game.
Instead, parents, friends and relatives were on hand for the 2021 commencement exercises for Prescott High School seniors. A total of 76 earned their diplomas, though some didn’t participate in the event. There were no speeches from the honor graduates, and everyone attending was told not to go on the field after the ceremony ended. That directive, however, was ignored, as people flooded the field to get pictures of the newly-minted graduates.
Superintendent Robert Poole recognized the school board and administration, saying these young people think this is the end of something, but it’s only the beginning. He said the last two years have been rough because of COVID, and reminded the seniors no matter how long it’s been since they graduated, they’ll always be students of Prescott High School.
Those receiving highest honor accolades were: Paige Brooks, Jayce Crayne, Holly Cummings, Kendall Sands and Justin Wilson. Honor grads were: Justin Brown, Kaitlyn Burns, Lane Faulkner, Zoe Fincher, Jayce Ingram, Katherine Jordan, Peter Kha, Carter Neal, Hailey Patric, Luis Rabadan, Essence Thomas, Kyle Wilson and Heavenly Zachery.
PHS Principal Tommy Poole confirmed the graduates which sent mortarboards into the air. Additionally, people started coming toward the field without waiting for the ending prayer.
