BLEVINS – It was feared the Imon Brown gym wouldn’t be able to hold the crowd for the 2021 Blevins High School graduation Friday evening, the commencement exercises were held on the walking trail between the gym and administration building.

A segment was roped off for families and guests who had reservations while all others had to be behind the ropes. The area was crowded with families and friends of the graduates for the abbreviated ceremony.

Only two speeches were given and there was no guest speaker at this year’s graduation. Allison Bonner, the salutatorian, started, saying when the class started kindergarten 13 years ago, this seemed like a long time away. She talked of how they had pine straw wars in elementary school, graduated the sixth grade and were then able to walk the same halls as high school students. The class got older with each passing year making it to their senior year and graduation.

She said they have had to face things other classes didn’t, but learned to work together to reach a common goal. Bonner thanked the teachers, coaches, staff and families for their help.

Isabella Jones gave the valedictorian address, saying she was glad they were able to have a semi-normal graduation as their senior year has been anything but normal. She thanked everyone, especially her mother, adding the class has been waiting for this day for some time, but can’t believe it’s finally here. “We’ve seen each other grow into the people we are today, and I can’t wait to see what we become.”
