Sonya Branch

Sonya S. Branch of Hope, AR. left to be with Our Heavenly Father and Son Jesus Christ on May 22, 2021 in Hope.

She was born February 28, 1939 in Hope to Henry and Frances Sue Williams Sommerville. Sonya was a graduate with a BA from Southern State College in Magnolia. Mrs. Branch was a retired pre-school teacher with the Dallas and San Antonio Texas Independent School Districts.  She was also a kindergarten teacher at the First United Methodist Church of Hope.

Sonya was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Henry Jr.; a sister Suzanne Sommerville, P.H.D. in Autology.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Hal W. Branch; mother of H. Wilkes Branch, Jr. M.D. and grandson Conner Branch of Beebe, AR; Mary Jett McCampbell (Sam) and granddaughter Madson Audrey of Benton, AR; Cris Roberts (Rhet) and granddaughter Reese of Hot Springs, AR; sister-in-law Mary Nell Brusenhan (Bill) of Hot Springs Village, AR; and niece Jan Coleman of Bossier City, LA; an employee, great friend, and devoted member of the Branch family Dwight W. Moore.

The family would like to thank Kindred Home Health Staff for their loving care and kindness.

A private service will be held by the family with Pastor Steve Johnson of F.U.M.C of Hope officiating at Memory Gardens Cemetery, under the direction of Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home.
