Farmer’s Market opens
PRESCOTT – Friday morning saw the kickoff of the 2021 Farmer’s Market in Prescott.
Several farmers were out with their early produce, mostly squash, potatoes and cucumbers, with a few onions and cabbages thrown in. However, others brought canned jams and jellies of all kinds. The jellies ranged from apple and strawberry to pineapple and muscadine. Prescott’s Rotary Club was on hand having a bake sale, along with selling jams and jellies, and Meador Farms was on hand with farm-raised meats.
Things started slow, but picked up once the clock struck 8 a.m. and customers began showing up. None left empty-handed. One of the farmers said his tomatoes would be ready in a couple of weeks, while another said he should have some next week.
Regardless, the farmer’s market is a great place to pick up fresh produce at a good price.
