Head-on crash claims two
NASHVILLE – A head-on collision this morning on Highway 278 West of Nashville claimed two lives.
According to the preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police, a 2012 Cadillac driven by Jamal Staves, 45, of Nashville was meeting a 2015 Chevrolet driven by Patrick Byrne, 68, of Dierks. Staves apparently crossed the centerline, striking the Chevrolet. Staves was pronounced dead at the scene and Byrne at Howard Memorial Hospital in Nashville. A minor in the Staves’ vehicle was taken to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock. Several area volunteer fire departments were called to assist with extrication and traffic control. Trooper Joshua Broughton was the investigating officer.
