Special Olympics Torch Run Comes Through Hope
The Arkansas Special Olympics Torch Run came through Hope on Tuesday. Local Hope and Hempstead County officers brought the torch from the “weight scales” in US67 west of Hope to the Rainbow of Challenges admin building on South Main. From there, 5 Arkansas State Troopers from Troop G in Hope were carrying the torch to Prescott. The troopers were Ernesto and Frank Echevarria, Ryne Shelton, David Fielding, and Dale Young. They departed shortly before 10:30am.
Torches from the four corners of the state will meet on the steps of the Arkansas Capitol building Thursday. The Special Olympics will be held at Harding University in Searcy.
