Vernon Chester Charles, of Rockford departed this earthly life June 7, 2021 in his home. He was born July 13, 1935 in Prescott, Arkansas the son of Chester and Cordia Charles.  Vernon lived in Rockford for over 60 years. He was employed as a logistics supervisor by the United States Postal Service 33 years before retiring. Vernon was a veteran of the United State Air Force.  He was a member of Ward Chapel A.M.E. Church in Prescott.  Vernon was a member of the Rockford Travelers Bowling Team, Rockford Sportsman Golf Association and Coast Guard Auxiliary. He graduated from McRae High School in Prescott.

Vernon leaves to cherish many memories, his son, Keith Jordan; two daughters, Nicole (John) Hooks and LaShawn Charles; six grandchildren, Antranicque, Diamondnicque, Braylen, Brittony, LaQwandra and Chancellor; eight great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, brother, Harold Charles and sister, Ozie Moore Jones.

Family visitation will be 11:00am to 1:00pm on Saturday June 18, 2021, at BRAZZEL/Cornish
