The Hempstead County Quorum Court met Thursday for their June meeting. After the opening prayer and pledge, JP David Clayton asked everyone to keep Jeff Neel in prayer. He’s being treated for COVID in Plano, Texas.
Following the approval of the minutes, the JP’s moved to a proposed ordinance, 2021-12. The ordinance would appropriate $15,000 for the Courthouse grant budget. This grant will fund an X-RAY machine for bags at the new courthouse.
JP Ed Darling said there has been a suggestion to put a “time clock” in the new courthouse. Darling moved the county buy such a device. After a second and some discussion, the JP’s voted to buy the time clock. County Attorney Jim Burke noted the county handbook will have to be amended to reflect the clocking in and out. Darling acknowledged the handbook committee will need to meet.
JP Cherry Stewart asked for prayers for Wendell McCorkle. The meeting then adjourned.
