Hope Lions Hear Program From Melanie Griffith of the Hope Parks Department

The Hope Lions recently heard a program from Melanie Griffith of the Hope Parks & Recreation Department. She serves as Recreation Director. She talked about a children’s program she offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays this summer at Fair Park. She offered the program on the program on Wednesdays at North Side. The Fair Park program drew about 40 kids per day while North Side drew a little less. She plans to promote the program more next year. Griffith said the Hope Public Schools offered lunch each day as well as on Fridays when she offered a basketball program. She said the swimming pool drew bigger numbers this year with about 1,000 attending every month. Other summer activities included baggo, football, soccer, and programs from 4-H. Other visitors included the Game & Fish, the police, and the fire department. She said her goal is to make the parks program the best it can be. Griffith also talked about some new batting cages at the park.
