Country Music supergroup Shenandoah will be in concert September 2nd at Hempstead Hall in Hope. The concert will start at 7:30pm and is presented by Miracle Farms Market. The group will feature Marty Raybon who sang lead on all the groups major hits.
Shenandoah was formed in 1984. They had their first records on the country charts in 1987 after signing with Columbia Records. Their first top 10 record came in 1988 with “She Doesn’t Cry Anymore” followed by “Mama Knows”. The group so far has had 26 charted singles and 9 studio albums. The group has had 5 #1 records including “The Church on the Cumberland Road”, “Sunday In the South”, “Two Dozen Roses”, “Next to You, Next to Me”, and “If Bubba Can Dance”.
The group has certainly won their share of awards. They were named “Vocal Group of the Year” by the Academy of Country Music in 1992 and won “Vocal Event of the Year” from the CMA for their single “Somewhere In the Vicinity of the Heart” with Allison Krauss. This performance also won a Grammy for the group.
