Ribbon cutting for Barks and Bubbles

PRESCOTT – Ribbon cutting ceremonies were held for Barks and Bubbles Monday morning.

The business is owned by K.D. Hicks who grooms and bathes dogs. Plans are to expand so she can board dogs later on. Typically, she said, there are four dogs in the shop at a time, unless they are larger dogs, in which case only two are dealt on at once. Barks and Bubbles is open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and the first Saturday in the month by appointment only. Depending on the size of the animal, rates run $15-$30 for bathing and $40-$60 for grooming. Extra services are available.

In addition, pet accessories are for sale, along with jewelry.

Jerry Higftower, Hicks’ father, thanked everyone for showing up, saying K.D. has been doing this for a long time and wanted to start her own business. She’s been in the building since July, but a ribbon cutting couldn’t be held because of COVID.
