HOPE – It’s Hempstead County Fair week according to the Hempstead County Cooperative Extension Office. 4-H’ers and FFA members have been working hard preparing their livestock projects for the Hempstead County Fair and Livestock Show.
You’re invited to support our Hempstead County youth livestock exhibitors at the Jr. Livestock Show Premium Sale on Friday at 11:30 at the Hope Coliseum for light refreshments, sale starts at noon.
Each qualifying livestock exhibitor has the opportunity to take one animal through the sale. This is a premium sale, meaning there is no change of ownership. This is simply a donation towards the cost of the livestock project of the youth.
“We invite and  encourage you to attend the sale to support the youth that are the Agricultural Future of Hempstead County. Your tax-deductible donations will be greatly appreciated by the exhibitors,” the local extension office said in a release.
Exhibitors use these funds in several ways, examples are:
• Purchasing animals for next year’s project
• Financing trips to exhibit at the State Fair,
• Buying feed
• Vet bills
• Saving money to apply toward college
If you have any questions about the sale, please feel free to call Mindy Lockhart at (870) 777-6140 or the members of the Jr. Livestock Sale Committee, Kyle Webb and Steven Mullins.
