SUTTON – The Sutton Book Box, a community library in the Sutton community in Nevada County was vandalized this past week.
The mini-library was started in 2014 by Bobbie and George Smith, both adjunct instructors at UAHT in Hope.
Hybrid library normally had up to 259-200 books and was used by local residents and others from the Emmet, Prescott, Rosston and residents on Highway 73.
In a joint statement the Smiths stated: “Vandalism is a crime of personal evil with the only satisfaction from the act coming from the useless destruction of property.
“The library will be fixed and back serving the reading public in short order. Additionally, an array of game  cameras will be installed to document any future acts of violence against the library.”
In the statement, the couple noted the support received from area residents, county officials and law enforcement in restoring the library.
