Former Hope Residents Purchase Historic Magnolia Restaurant

By Staff, 09/3/21 7:42 AM

Former Hope residents Julie and Jimmy Walker have purchased the historic Marlar’s Cafeteria in Magnolia.  Jimmy recently became the Assistant Superintendent at Columbia Christian and Julie is managing the restaurant which they purchased from Ray Lindsey.

Marlar’s is the oldest restaurant in Magnolia and has operated since 1958.  It is also the oldest cafeteria in Arkansas.  The restaurant specializes in “comfort food” and has a loyal support base.

Hempstead and Nevada County residents are invited to “eat with the home folks” next time they’re in Magnolia.  Marlar’s is located on North Vine just south of highway 82 on the way into downtown Magnolia.  The restaurant is open for lunch Monday through Friday.
