PRESCOTT – Sometimes things just fall into place as though they were planned.

Take for instance the cleaning of Sterling Park. The park was given a power washing by Brad Frost and his wife Ann Lyons-Frost Friday after the two had driven by and seen how dingy the brick looked. Frost said he likes the mural and his a history with Prescott, seeing as how his wife’s father, Harold Lyons, was a former manager of Sterling’s Department Store. He thought bout it and decided to volunteer his time and expertise to sprucing the park with his power washing equipment. Frost got in touch with Mary Godwin, executive director of the Prescott-Nevada County Economic Development Office, who readily agreed.

He started around 11 a.m. Friday and said it would take about five hours in total to finish the job. The job includes cleaning the concrete, parking lot and around the planters.

Frost and his wife own Sud N Clean Power Washing and have been doing this since 2009. He said he got into the business after the bottom fell out of the economy in 2008 and he was laid off from his job with a plating company in Nashville. He did whatever he could to make ends meet until a friend suggested he start cleaning chicken house fans. Frost was reluctant to do this, at first, but now it’s 80 percent of his income.

Sterling Park will be nice and clean for the Fall Festival on Oct. 2 and Garage Sale Heaven on 67 on Oct. 7.
