Mass flu clinic under way

PRESCOTT – A mass flu clinic is currently under way at the Potlatch Building at the Nevada County Fair Park.

Area nurses are there to immunize people from the flu. This year’s vaccine is a quadravailant, meaning it provides protection from four strains of the flu.

Nurses will be on hand until 6 p.m. today. There is no out of pocket expense for the vaccine.

Originally, the clinic was to be a drive-through, but inclement weather forced things to be moved inside as a heavy mist fell throughout the morning. The start time was revised to 9:30 a.m. because of the reorganization and the interior of the building needing to be set up for the clinic. This didn’t stop patrons from showing up early to get their annual flu shot.

Covid protocols were also followed as those working the clinic wore masks and the nurses also wore goggles as added protection. Those getting vaccinated were kept at least six-feet apart.

Clinics are also scheduled for the Prescott and Nevada schools.
