FCCLA members attend state fair

LITTLE ROCK – On October 19, members of the Prescott High Chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America attended the 4th Annual CTSO Day at the Arkansas State Fair. This event was sponsored by the Arkansas Department of Education Division of Career and Technical Education. The members attending were: Nelda Chavez, Logan Cox, Hannah O’Neal, Alanie Spatt, Kennedy McKillion, Kourtnie Lewis, Khelshanti Murphy, Heather Lanicek, and Emily Huerta.
The event is held to give students an opportunity to learn what is involved in putting on the largest event in the state, the Arkansas State Fair. The students were first introduced and heard a welcome from Mr. Ross White, Director of Division Career and Technical Education, Mr. Johnny Keys, Director of the Department of Education, and officers from each Career and Technical Student Organization (FFA, FBLA, FCCLA, DECA, HOSA, Skills USA and TSA). During the breakout sessions of the CTSO Summit students were educated on the various careers that are related to organizing and implementing a state fair. The following is a list of the Careers and the responsibilities of each career: Interim General Manager, Director of Sales and Promotions, Livestock Director, Food and Beverage, Director of Maintenance & Operations, Midway Director, and Fairgrounds Security.
After the summit students were given an opportunity to enjoy the food, friends, rides and animals at the fair.
