Emmet’s Trunk or Treat a blast
EMMET – Fireman’s Park was the place to be in Emmet Saturday for the First Annual Trunk or Treat event.
While no one was sure what to expect, this being the first one, there was no need for concern as children and their parents flocked to the park to have fun. As is the norm, people began arriving before the 5 p.m. start time, but weren’t allowed in until the clock actually struck 5. No one seemed to mind as they lined up for the different events, which were in a horseshoe shape to allow a better flow of traffic.
There were all kinds of games, from ring toss to “sticky web”, which was a web-shape made of tape with the object to get cotton balls to stick to the tape. Big Boy’s Creations loaned a bounce house and children participated in a costume contest. All in all, it was good fun and nobody went home empty-handed as everyone got a prize, mostly of candy.
When it came to the costumes, it was no holds barred as there were witches, superheros, mermaids, ghosts, goblins, firefighters and critters of all kinds. But, to everyone’s surprise, a special visitor made an early appearance as Santa Claus showed up.
Overall, the goal is to grow this event and make it an annual occurrence.
