Mr. Ricky Smith, loving husband, daddy, and papaw, passed away at the age of 71 on Sunday, November 14, 2021, in Texarkana TX.

He was born January 31, 1950 to Roy and Edna Ray Smith of Spring Hill, Arkansas. He was a Christian and a member of First Baptist Church of Dangerfield, TX. He was a devoted teacher. He started his teaching career in 1973. He went on to teach thousands of students and win multiple teaching awards, in both Arkansas and Texas, until he retired in 2018. He found beauty in nature and shared his passion of exploring, hiking and camping with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Herman Smith and Travis Smith, and one sister, Verda Dean Mason.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Smith, one son Joshua Smith, and two daughters, Amy Miller and Paige Brown, two brothers, Donald Smith and Kenneth Smith, two sisters, Brenda Hunt and Debbie Cato, four grandsons, Hayden Poindexter, Colt Smith, Bryce Brown, Braxton Brown and three granddaughters Jordan Miller, Taylor Brown, and Jessie Smith, one great-granddaughter, Lydia Long. And a host of nephews, nieces, other family and good friends.

There will be a celebration of life at 11:00am Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00am.

As he always said “But didn’t we have fun?”

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be to the National Park Conservation Association.
