Dr. Christine Holt, chancellor of the University of Arkansas at Hope and Texarkana, addressed the Hope Civitan Club at the club’s regular meeting Tuesday, November 9.  Stressing her belief in the “transformative power of higher education,” Dr. Holt said she wants UAHT to accomplish more outreach to underserved communities.  She briefly described UAHT programs that provide opportunities for many students to succeed in gaining higher education, including the Career Pathways initiative, concurrent enrollment, the Collegiate Academy, career and technical programs, a new truck driving academy started this fall, and the James Black School of Bladesmithing and Historic Trades.  Dr. Holt also listed Hempstead Hall and Industry Outreach and Community Education as other avenues of cultural and community involvement.  She invited anyone wanting more information to contact one of the UAHT campuses.  She is pictured with Civitan President Amber Mackey.
