WASHINGTON – The personal stories of local residents are amazing and can be a great resource for learning more about the past history of our area and the impact residents of the county make on the world around us. A recent book was published entitled “Just Outside of Hope” by Stan Parris.

The book recounts his memories of growing up on a dairy farm just outside of Hope and later going into the ministry and becoming a missionary to Venezuela and other locations. Reverend Parris also pastored First Baptist Church of Hope for several years. Come learn about this new book written by a past resident of Hempstead County at the Hempstead County Historical Society on Tuesday evening November 23, 2021 at the Presbyterian Church in Washington, Arkansas at 7pm. Everyone is welcome. The guest speaker for the evening will be author and pastor, Stan Parris. He will also have copies of the book for sale.

The Historical Society seeks to bring awareness to the rich heritage and history of Hempstead County. Come and share your history with us.
