EMMET – There are some changes to Emmet’s Annual Christmas Parade.

This year will be the 28th year for the parade, which was held in an abbreviated form in 2020, due to the Covid pandemic.

This year the parade will be Dec. 11 and start at 4 p.m. instead of 6 o’clock. Floats and participants will line up at the Emmet School between 3-3:30 p.m., which is the starting point. As usual, the parade will end at the Chuck Wagon where youngsters can enjoy cookies and hot chocolate while they wait their turn to visit with Santa.

Prizes will be awarded to the best floats in three categories: Holiday Spirit – for the entry with the most enthusiastic participants; Rudolph’s Friend – with the best entry featuring animals; and Tin Soldier – for the best band.

The parade route has been modified as well. Starting at the school, the parade will head down Hazel and turn onto East 4th, then hang a right on East 1st street and go to Arkla Park and the Chuck Wagon.

The public is invited and encouraged to come out and enjoy the parade, and visit with St. Nick as well.
