PRESCOTT – It’s down to the best of the best in AAA high school football.

Four teams have made it to the semifinal games Friday night, where it’s winner advance, loser go home. None of the four teams involved are strangers to playing in the semis and finals. The four teams still vying for the AAA state title are: Prescott, 13-0; McGehee, 13-0, Harding Academy, 11-2; and Booneville, 13-1.

Prescott made its final home stand of the season, ending Newport’s season, 47-7. Now, the Wolves are looking to finish their grid campaign on the field where the team’s 2021 season began – War Memorial Stadium. Prescott and Newport opened the year in Little Rock with the Wolves posting a commanding 56-6 win.

Friday night, however, the Wolves will be on the road as they travel to McGehee, and a team they have a history with in the playoffs – not always a pleasant one. Harding Academy will host Booneville in the other semifinal game.

The title game is scheduled for noon on Dec. 11.

First, though, two of these teams must make it past their opponents Friday night.
