Presbyterian Church getting historic marker

PRESCOTT – Judy Duke, director of the Nevada County Depot and Museum, is working to get historic markers for the old Presbyterian Church.

The church was established in 1874, though the building first housing the church no longer exists. The marker, she said, will be two-sided with information about the church. This will be part of a 50-50 grant project. Duke said the museum already has its portion for the grant, and any remaining money will be used for installation and landscaping around the marker.

The marker will be placed at the corner of Third and Elm Streets, and will cost $2,150. She said the museum should be notified if this is approved in the Spring of 2022 with the installation to be done when the marker arrives. Duke said former pastor Truman Warren helped her get the grant.
