RUBY ADD BROWN was born September 18, 1933 in Glenwood, Ark., to Add P. Nivens and Minnie Melissa (Morrow) Nivens.
She graduated from Blevins High School and began a long career with the Bell Telephone Company in 1951. On May 2, 1955, she married Drexel Brown (deceased), her husband of 58 years. Her son, Kevin Ray Brown (deceased), was born on July 28, 1962 and was the joy of her life.
Ruby was a writer of poetry and loved music. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and loved to share these gifts with others.
Ruby leaves to mourn her passing one sister: Bobbye Nivens Calhoon of Dallas, Texas; sister-in-law, Mary Nivens of Wallaceburg, Ark.; sister-in-law, Barbara Nivens of Little Rock, Ark.; sister-in-law, Faye Nivens of Amory, Miss.; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Add and Minnie Nivens; brothers, John Nivens and his wife Evelyn; Leroy Nivens, Lyndell Nivens and Wyndell Nivens; sisters, Esther Howell and her husband Don; Naomi Slatton; and Snow Hill and her husband, Sam; and brother-in-law, Bruce Calhoon.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, December 20, 2021 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Ark., 72211 (501) 224-8300. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Betty Nivens Cemetery, Blevins, Ark.
